Frankfurt low-emission zone: understand the motorway ring and green sticker

Frankfurt’s low-emission zone covers about 110 square kilometres inside the motorway ring. The A5 forms the western boundary, the A3 the southern boundary, and the A661 the eastern and northern boundary; the motorways themselves are excluded.

Since 2012, vehicles generally need a green emissions sticker to enter the zone. For a rental van, do not stop the route check at the motorway exit: verify the route from the motorway to the branch, loading address and destination.

Temporary no-parking zone in Frankfurt: application, signs and current fee

Frankfurt’s road traffic authority provides a specific application form for a temporary no-parking zone for a move. It requests the street, house number, time period, required length and a responsible person, among other details.

The form explicitly states that the road traffic authority does not install the signs; traffic-safety measures and sign organisation remain the applicant’s responsibility. The authority’s current fee schedule lists €30 for a no-parking restriction lasting up to one week.
