When is a temporary no-parking zone useful for a move?

A temporary no-parking zone can be useful when the moving van needs reliable loading space directly outside the old or new property and the street is normally occupied by parked vehicles. It is not simply a private reservation of a parking space; it is based on an official order for a defined location and period.

Check both addresses separately. The responsible authority, deadlines and fees can differ between the loading and unloading locations.

One particularly important difference: Dortmund currently states that an application for a temporary no-parking zone for a move must be made through a moving company, service provider or traffic-management company. Berlin, by contrast, lists an informal application by the person concerned. Düsseldorf has also offered express processing since June 2026.
